The rapeseed harvest was early and good: we collected 69 tons and sold it well. The remaining harvest which followed was still not as good as expected, the weeds taking their toll, but 174 tons of wheat and barley were gathered without difficulties by our Sampo, and bravely, with customary problems of the weather. We had a happy celebration in the restaurant, the last one for Kaz who decided it was time to retire and J - is preparing to attend a combine-harvester course, for next year harvest.

September was a busy time, with ploughing being the main task, to prepare 50 hectares for this yearʼs sowing of next yearʼs crop, which has to be done by the 15th. To deal with this work more easily, we bought in June a new tractor, a 95 hp Belarus machine which we know will cope better with the three blade reversible ʻOverumʼ Swedish plough than the MTZ. This new plough increases the cutting width to 125 cm making a major saving of diesel oil, which has now become one of the farmerʼs main expenses. The work is steady but hard. Both machines, being blue, inspire in the operator as well as in an observers a sense of order which helps in retaining a balance of thoughts and growing confidence in ones work, whilst the events elsewhere which we observe on the screens are wrapped in folly. Before the onset of winter we need to fertilise the wheat once more and spray the rapeseed against the weeds. The winter ploughing, done in late October - finished the farmerʼs work for the year

In New York, two months ago, two passenger planes piloted by 19 Saudi nationals destroyed the two Trade Centre towers, by slamming into them midway and inducing fires which caused an eventual collapse, in two hours. They were motivated by hate because they viewed the presence of American troops on their soil as an offence against religion of the Prophet and with revenge for Israelʼs aggression in Palestine, which supported by America was a stain on Arab honour. These were the motives which created an event of enormous human tragedy, with three thousand people killed in circumstances of cruel incongruity, as they were caught in a cage of death, watching themselves destroyed by the flames from below. A tragedy which is classic in its proportions, and which will stay in the mind of the world for ever.

People believe many contradictory things in New York today, some think that important persons were warned on the day not to come to the Centre; a letter arrived here, in Bielsk from Bronx saying that the date was known before the 11th; some think that the keys to the tragedy are to be found in the White House, which ignored the FBI agentʼs warning on the 8th of August. There was a previous attempt against the Centre, which represented a much hated symbol of globalisation and therefore was an obvious target. The pilots of the planes had been trained for five years in America, which was noticed and a warning about it was issued by FBI but disregarded by superiors, whilst their helpmates were let into the country shortly before without difficulty. The highjackers were allowed boarding, five at a time on four different planes without questioning, which is surprising considering their obviously Arabic appearance. The highjack planes were allowed to manoeuvre two hours, breaking their flight plans - clearly apparent to air traffic control - without any of the air interception orders for such events being initiated. It is because of such a collection of lucky breaks for the terrorists that the question arises whether the high-jackers were, without knowing it, Agents Provocateurs.

While it is not possible that anyone, not even the perpetrators, could have imagined the enormity of the event, it is possible that the terrorism was knowingly allowed. The expectation may have been of a highjack involving a couple of planes, resulting in a forced landing and a marinesʼ assault, freeing the victims: enough to unsettle American people, fulfilling its objective.

Has the Presidentʼs office arranged the scenario of a Super Reichstag Fire, for the initiation of hegemony policy? What followed seems in itself an explanation of what happened: perhaps the President suddenly realising what he has agreed to, spent the rest of the day, running away, afraid that American people would draw their conclusions - he even feared to speak or to come to New York, which he may have allowed to be destroyed. But the system worked, they said to him: “we can make people believe anything: what happened is better than we planned, it is a pity that so many were lost, but it is for the Republic, people must make sacrifices and they will be gloried for their sacrifice”. Go and say to them - what dangers they are in - and they will believe you. And they did. But what happened was butchery - an ABattoir of Condoleezza, or the ʻABCʼ needed to justify a War of Hegemony.

The lack of any counter action against those who allowed it to happen ʻon their watchʼ, either against CIA, or FBI or military authorities confirms a prearranged plan. ʻ911ʼ is the ideal basis for Mr Bush to advance Fascist legislation. The event was a tragedy, made worse because of unrepentant happiness in antagonist quarters. One hopes that America will find the truth about its causes and reasons, and destroy malicious intentions for which it seems to have been engineered.

When in New York, I was invited by American Architects Institute to visit the Towers, which were quite new then, who sent an architect to show me round: the impression was stupendous, changing lifts, half way, first in one and than in the other to the very top. and I wrote a brief note trying to convey the feelings to my young son. I loved New York in all its aspects when I visited it in 1977, its sloping to the water on both sides and its lively order. I made a note when sitting in my favourite lunch venue in the Oyster Bar of the Central Station: “there are 44 bulbs to a quarter circle, or 176 to a dome, and there are two domes, three half domes and two quarter domes, which I can see from where I am sitting, 704 in all and every one is lit; that is the American capability - everything works here, just does all the time”. It is a pity to see it broken.
